The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle

I’ve heard it said by a few people that they can’t know God for sure because of the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. This principle states that it is impossible to know the position of the smallest of subatomic particles because any experiment to detect them will disturb them.

Fortunately, God is not a subatomic particle.

Furthermore, He made the universe and is not subject to it. He made this present reality that we all know. He knows us very well (Matt 10:30). But we, at this time should strive to know Him. He made us in His image — with a Spirit— so that we could know Him on a spiritual level.

We can know of Him on an intellectual level, but we must experience Him only on a spiritual level. He gave us many clues relating to His character. We can see from the vastness of space that whoever made the universe must have unfathomable power. We know from science, that space is expanding, and that if we roll the clock backwards, that the universe had a sudden beginning. If the universe had a sudden beginning then someone outside the universe formed it — someone who is not made of matter and not subject to the laws of physics, but rather someone who wrote the laws of physics. As we study the universe we find that it is amazing, which is a testament to the skill of its creator. Yet in all of this, do we reflect on “what is true” and “what is right?” To answer these questions, we must shift from science to philosophy. We must be hungry for more. We must ask greater questions such as “why did someone create the universe?,” “how is it that I am in this reality?,” “who is the creator?,” “ what else and who else has he created?”

Jesus said that no one has seen the Father, but He came down from heaven to explain him (John 6:46, 1:14, 1:18). Jesus’ appearance in this world gave mankind a brief glimpse into the character of God. His teachings give us more information, yet many take this only at an intellectual level. God is a loving god. he made us to know us, and invites us to seek Him, and know Him on a spiritual level. He is not a sub-atomic particle. He made us to know Him and experience Him on a level no plant or animal could know. While we have physical bodies, we also have an eternal spirit.
